Nelson C. Boyer 
Nelson was born in 1928 in Palmerton,
PA to hearing parents. He entered the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf,
Philadelphia PA as a boarding student in 1935. After graduating Valedictorian
in 1946, he continued his education enrolling in College Prep courses at
Palmerton High School, Secondary Education courses at Temple University and
received his degree in Accounting from Allentown Business College.
Following a three-year employment
with Merchants National Bank in Allentown, PA, Boyer was employed by the
Pennsylvania Department of Banking as a State Bank Examiner until his
retirement.
His
affiliation with PSAD spans seven decades where he has held the positions of
Assistant Treasurer and Comptroller and is currently Treasurer, Newsletter
Editor and Board Member. He presently is also Treasurer and Newsletter Editor
of the PSD Reunion Society, as well as Comptroller and Public Relations
Associate of the Lehigh Association of the Deaf, Allentown, PA. In addition,
Boyer is Treasurer of the Lehigh –Northampton Counseling Service for the
Deaf, an organization founded by his mother, Grace Boyer.
Nelson and his wife of 50 plus years,
Betty (Grubb), share their Allentown home with their Boston Terrier, Patsy
and West Highland Terrier, Sugar.
